Trusted content + pruned index ------------------------------ WARNING: Only use this method if ALL of these are true: 1. You trust Luke-Jr to have not provided you with a compromised block index. 2. You have verified the SHA256 hashes on the files, and that Luke-Jr's PGP key actually signed the hashes. 3. You trust BlueMatt's "prune" branch of bitcoind (as of July 2012) to have pruned the transaction/block index correctly. 4. You are prepared to take responsibility if the pruning went wrong somehow. To install: 1. Shut down your Bitcoin client(s) 2. Make sure they shutdown completely (sometimes it can take several minutes); reboot if you're at all uncertain! 3. Delete blk*.dat from your data directories; BE CAREFUL NOT TO DELETE wallet.dat OR YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR BITCOINS. 4. Hard link this blk0001.dat into your data directories; on Windows, you can use symlinker: http://code.google.com/p/symlinker/ 5. Decompress blkindex.dat.xz using XZ Utils or 7-Zip, and copy it into each data directory. Bitcoin-Qt/bitcoind 0.7+ ------------------------ To install: 1. Shut down your Bitcoin client(s) 2.
